What We Offer

SIM Racing Rig Consultation & Build Service

We’ll talk goals, budget, and racing style, give you some seat time in our cockpit, and create a custom shopping list so you know exactly what to order. We’ll then assemble your rig, configure the PC and SIM software, optimize graphics, and dial in the force feedback so everything feels just right. Ideal if you’ve done the research but want a pro to handle the hard part.

1. Discovery & Goals

We start with a conversation about what you hope to get out of your SIM racing. Are you chasing F1 lap times, drifting through rally stages, grinding GT endurance races, or just looking for some casual weekend laps? We’ll also talk through:

  • Budget – What range makes sense for you ($2,500 entry, $5k median, $10k+ premium).
  • Space – Whether this rig is going into a dedicated room, office, or garage.
  • Hardware preference – PC vs console, VR vs triple screens, wheelbases and pedals.

2. Test Drive My Rig

You’ll get some seat time in my personal SIM racing setup. This gives you a feel for what high-end hardware is capable of—direct drive feedback, load-cell pedals, DK motion system, and an immersive curved OLED display.

3. Product Selection

Together, we’ll build your perfect shopping list. I’ll recommend specific parts based on your goals, budget, and style of racing. We’ll cover:

  • Wheels & pedals (direct drive vs belt, load cell vs hydraulic)
  • Chassis & seating (comfort, adjustability, durability)
  • Displays & VR (triple monitor setups, VR headsets, GPU requirements)
  • PC components & performance optimization
  • Motion add-ons (where they fit and when to skip them)

4. Shopping List + Next Steps

At the end of our session, you’ll walk away with:

  1. A custom gear list tailored to your style and budget.
  2. Direct links to buy from trusted manufacturers (plus promo codes when available).
  3. A roadmap for assembly and setup—whether you handle it yourself or choose my Build + Configure service for a turnkey experience.

5. Cockpit Assembly

We carefully unbox and assemble every component you’ve ordered, ensuring it’s rock solid and built to last. This includes:

  1. Chassis and seat installation
  2. Wheelbase, pedals, and shifter mounting
  3. Motion system setup and configuration (optional)
  4. Cable management for a clean, professional finish

6. PC & Software Configuration

Your hardware is only as good as its setup. We’ll get your system running at peak performance with:

  1. SIM racing software installation and setup
  2. Graphics optimization for smooth, high-FPS performance
  3. Peripheral calibration (steering, pedals, shifters, handbrakes, VR, or triple monitors)

7. SIM Tuning & Feedback

Realism is all in the details. We fine-tune your software so the feedback feels natural and immersive:

  1. Force feedback tuning for your wheelbase
  2. Brake and throttle response calibration
  3. Custom control profiles for your preferred racing disciplines (F1, GT, Rally, etc.)

About

I’m a mid-forties dad who discovered that driving fast cars in real life is expensive and not exactly sustainable. So I found the next best thing: SIM racing.

By day, I run Coulee Creative, a web and app agency I started back in 2008. When I’m not engulfed in kids or day job, I’m deep in the world of racing SIMs. How’d I get into it?  I created an eCommerce website for Sigma Integrale who makes DK motion systems for SIM racing.  After using their product, I was hooked—what started as a “fun hobby” turned into an insanely immersive experience I couldn’t put down.

Over the years I’ve gone through the whole cycle: hours of research, buying and upgrading gear, thinking I had it all figured out… only to realize I didn’t. Eventually, I dialed in my SIM cockpit so well that friends could hop in, drive an F1 car, and be posting solid lap times within an hour.

Now I help others skip the trial-and-error and jump straight into the fun. If you’d rather spend time racing than researching, I’ve got you covered.

Location

We’re based in Bend, and run this side hustle from our heated/cooled garage.  You can vist us (by appointment) at 124 NW Columbia St Bend, OR.

FAQ

Do you sell SIM racing products?

We’re not a store or reseller—we’re your pit crew. Our job is consultation, assembly, and fine-tuning so your rig feels like the real deal. When it’s time to buy, we’ll hand you a shopping list with direct links to trusted retailers, so you know you’re getting the right gear from reputable sources.

Can I demo a SIM Racing rig?

Yep! After booking your appointment, during your initial consultation, you’ll get some seat time in my personal rig. It’s the best way to feel the various components like a motion system—and it helps me recommend the right setup for your style and budget.

What games work well?

The more “sim” the game, the better the feedback. iRacing is the go-to for online racing with everything from Miatas to F1. Dirt Rally 2.0 and EA WRC are rally favorites. Assetto Corsa Evo and Le Mans Ultimate are gorgeous new options with great telemetry. Arcade games like Forza Horizon can also work, and are great for younger kids not wanting to take things too seriously.

How much should I spend on gear?

“Buy once, cry once,” right? It’s a tough pill to swallow, but realistic SIM racing doesn’t come cheap. The good news? When you crash, you won’t be staring at a repair bill. A solid entry-level setup usually starts around $2,500, mid tier $5k, and premium full-motion rigs can climb past $10,000. We break it all down in our blog post: How Much Does a SIM Racing Rig Cost?
